Fixing a screw-in holder that fell out

    So, I have this Ikea shoe cabinet. One of the holders on which an opening part was hinged just dropped out. It was screwed in and the screw got loose. Normally with loose screws I just fill up the hole with matches and screw them back in, but here the hole is too short and the matches don't hold.

    Is there some way to put it in place? Epoxy maybe? I do actually have some epoxy but I'd like to understand if it's the right approach. I don't care if I will or won't be able to take it out again; I always have the option of discarding the cheap cabinet if things fail again in the future.

    HI! That's an epoxy fix for sure and a typical Ikea failure-point. I'd get a good epoxy and make it up and then force it well into the wood around that hole, then flatten it off and let it set. Then drill the hole for the hinge-screw, making sure that it's just smaller than the diameter of the shaft. It's going to be tricky, but take your time and make sure that the epoxy is good and solid before drilling it.
