Putin has described Skripal as a "scumbag"

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45732221

As mentioned Putin could stand up tomorrow and announce he had him poisoned and there would be zero repercussions in Russia (except for a boost to his ratings) The only thing keeping Putin somewhat in check are international sanctions, that's it.

Are his daughter and the other two innocent people "scumbags" too or just acceptable collateral damage Mr Putin??

That's all you can do with a nuclear armed nation, unfortunately.

Back to the Skripals though, have the Russians stopped denying it? I have't seen any of the "False Flag" guys in here in a while.

The recent position on this has been that no Russian named Anatoliy Chepiga ever won the hero of Russian Federation award. At least according to Putin's spokesman...

I mean, that could sound plausible. Maybe they typed his name into the search engine with poor spelling or maybe they just had a shíte search engine.

What they should have done is just head off to the Far Eastern military Academy and check out the Wall of Heroes where they have portraits of the alumni who have won that award.

    image_full.jpg

Looking at that picture above, nothing looks too weird. It's hard to read the names, unfortunately. Thankfully, there are lots of pictures floating around of this wall as it seems to be open to the public on occasions. Check out this one below. Notice anything familiar? By the way, Chepiga is Чепига in Cyrillic and Anatoli is Анатолий.

    chepiga.jpg

So yeah, as we can see, the Russian government claims that it couldn't find any records of this guy. They should have just checked out the wall of the academy that he was alleged to have attended.

Who in the Russian government said they could not find him? That clearly suspect if you're correct they are denying this man exists.

Putin himself, on national television, said this guy wasn't GRU

It very much looks like he is GRU. Not only that, he received the "Hero of Russia" medal, an honour bestowed personally by Putin himself. So there is zero room for "error" or "mistake" there

If this was horse****, the real Chepiga would be all over Russian national TV right now saying "uh lol that's not me"

I know this might be an utterly impossible concept for you to process, but perhaps Putin is simply lying. Putin had the "scumbag" Skripals poisoned with nerve agent.

4 GRU officers were caught red-handed in Netherlands

Let me guess, they were innocently on holiday going to a hacking conference with all that gear

Yeah, look at that yoke with wires coming out of it, conclusive and damning evidence. :D

I think Russians are more into their spires. Are there any tall spires over there? It would need to be around 123 metres tall. Preferably taller.

If that were the only evidence, you might have a point. Unfortunately for your desires to firehose your búllshít, they have far more evidence than that and your firehosing is falling flat.

Here for example are some devices that every holiday maker should have in their collection:

But wait, there's more. Here's is an explanation of the evidence that you posted in an effort to dismiss.

And I guess that due broke Russia's GRU being somewhat careless, they used the same laptop for multiple operations. Russia is so poor that it takes about 2 months worth of the average citizen's salary to be able to buy a $1000 laptop and that's only if they save all their money and don't pay any tax.
    What was on their computer?
A laptop seized from the suspects was found to have been used in Brazil, Switzerland and Malaysia.

In Malaysia it was used to target the investigation into the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH-17 over rebel-held territory in eastern Ukraine in 2014, killing all 298 people on board.

Russia 'liable' for downing MH17 airliner
The cyber operation targeted Malaysia's attorney general's office and Malaysian police, Ambassador Wilson said.

Earlier this year Dutch-led international investigators concluded that the missile belonged to a Russian brigade. Russia has denied any involvement in the plane's destruction.

Data from the laptop showed it was also present in the Swiss city of Lausanne where it was linked to the hacking of a laptop belonging to the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada), which has exposed doping by Russian athletes.

Oh, and here's some passport info:

    gru-russia-netherlands-opcw.jpg

Now, tell me, Elmer. Do you have a point?

Here's what they brought with them on holiday.

    _103710220_mediaitem103710219.jpg

By some coincidence some of the equipment was arranged in the boot of the car, right beside the OPCW, setup to intercept login details... that could happen to anyone

When caught they tried to destroy a mobile phone.. completely understandable, sometimes I want to smash my phone to bits

The two experts were accompanied by two operatives, both of which had diplomatic passports (Aleksei Morenets and Evgenii Serebriakov).. ahh they probably all know each other from work and decided to take a break together

    Looks like a teenager's bedroom!

Will this even be news by tomorrow or will it disappear off the headlines as quick as the Salisbury 'third suspect'?
I would have thought that the 'third suspect' was a major development and not something that only made the headlines for a few hours. Any of you care to explain this 'third suspect'?

Pretty weak attempt to change the subject.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,236 ✭✭✭mcmoustache

I can only go by what is publicly available so there isn't much to say really.

On the other hand, GRU Colonel Chepiga went to Salisbury with an accomplice to poison the Skripals and this has been confirmed with loads of evidence.

You can spout Russian talking points all you like but you have no credibility and nobody sensible takes you seriously on matters relating to Russian fúckery.

I know it's coming up to 17:30 in Moscow so I'm sure your shift is ending soon, but why is it that you keep on dodging direct questions and facts only to try and change the subject?

It's good to get those type of replies, it shows how absurd the counter-argument is

    You said it!

Interesting that the Netherlands, the UK and the US all make 'hacking' accusations against Russia at EXACTLY the same time.
Definitely not an orchestrated NATO attack on Russia, all coincidental of course
There are some scary loons out there itching for war against Russia and you lot better believe it! There will be no winners.

It's not clear what your point is though. Are you saying that the claim about one suspect negates all the evidence presented in relation to the two who were caught with their pants down?
Interesting that the Netherlands, the UK and the US all make 'hacking' accusations against Russia at EXACTLY the same time.

How is it interesting? Europe is small and interconnected. It's not a surprise that Russia could perform their usual fúckery in two european countries around the same time.
Definitely not an orchestrated NATO attack on Russia, all coincidental of course

Yeah, I'm going to have to ask that you back that up with something because right now, it sounds like horseshít.
There are some scary loons out there itching for war against Russia and you lot better believe it! There will be no winners.

Who the hell want's to go to war with Russia? You're just making shít up at this point but please continue - your nonsense is more and more obvious.

It's really getting to that level of derangement. It's conspiracy theory land. We've already seen accusations of false flags and such nonsense in this thread.

The funny thing is, if you check out Russian state media, it's actually full of conspiracy theories. They've been at it since Soviet times it's just that now, they can reach the whole world. It seems that the idea currently being promoted is that poor innocent Russia is being set up by everyone. It's not even believable but people parrot such ideas here for some reason.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,236 ✭✭✭mcmoustache

Who in the Russian government said they could not find him? That clearly suspect if you're correct they are denying this man exists.

It was Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov who said that there were no records of the Hero of Russian Federation award going to anyone called Anatoli Chepiga.

Interestingly, he was awarded it sometime between July 2014 and March 2016. Was the Russian military involved in anything big during 2014?

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,799 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

Still waiting for the counter-explanation as to what these 4 GRU specialists were doing outside the OPCW building, with hacking equipment, at the same time the OPCW was analysing results of the nerve attack in Salisbury and investigating a chemical weapons attack in Syria

Accompanied by a Russian embassy official so the usual "on holiday" excuse doesn't wash

They're probably working on it. Maybe they'll take one one or two pieces of evidence out of context and claim that it makes no sense. Maybe they'll blame in on an anti-Russia witch hunt.

Whatever they go with, it'll be easily refuted because the Russians just can't get their story straight.

Doesn't need to have been anything big, or even anything they would publicly want to acknowledge. Its entirely possible he got it for something they wouldn't want to have to talk about. If they acknowledge that he got it then inevitably the question 'what'd he get it for' would follow. Easier to just deny everything

There are few details on what the award was for other than to say that it was awarded by presidential decree. He was awarded it in December 2014 according to the military academy's website.

The timing would indicate Ukraine but nothing has been confirmed in that regard yet.

    They're probably working on it.

I read that during the protests in Ukraine, the Kremlin would summon the representatives of the main news agencies for a daily "briefing" (aka here is our version of the truth, print it)

If Putin one day (in our lifetime) actually leaves power it would be fascinating to read about all this cloak and dagger stuff

I should have known. This orchestrated attack on Russia today coincides with a NATO Defence Ministers meeting with 'cyber threats' on the agenda.
I wonder what Mr Chairman means when he says "assertive" Russia?

By assertive, he means that Russia is engaging in international fúckery.

I'm not sure why you're so confused. If Russia engages in cyber fúckery against nato members, a response is to be expected. It's simple stuff, not some grand conspiracy.
