I think the jist of it was more ‘let’s make productive use of the taxpayers’ money’.

Honestly, the Trump comparisons are getting a little bit old. He’s spoken out against Trump, in case you’ve missed that.

I am comparing his tactics to Trump's, not his politics.

I think the jist of that would be 'Making Ireland Great Again'? :)

    When were we ever great?

They get away with plenty, same as some low life drug dealers or criminal elements in general society, which by the way, the drugs where i live are/were controlled by Traveler families over the last few years.

Response times from Garda to issues where traveler families are concerned in my area is beyond slow, so unlikely any convictions to serious issues that the Garda ignore.
Some of the Traveler families in our area are organised crime, which i know for a fact is an embarrassment to a lot of the settled traveler community in our area.

Somewhere in there is where your anger should be directed.

In all honesty, would you honestly buy drugs, from a guy smelling like a bonfire, married to his cousin and stinking of urine out the back of the halting site? or would you rather buy them from a hard working unlicensed independent pharmaceutical, who pays his protection to the IRA and was honest enough not to apply Forbairt for an EU start up grant for new small businesses.

This is how Government should help small business rather than the Traveller cartels.

Joseph Goebells was a propaganda mastermind for the Nazis, and Peter Casey has said (when asked in an interview) that members of the travelling community should be treated equally to all other members of the community, and that they were first and foremost Irish citizens.

I can see how you'd get the 2 confused.

Might be time to pop back up into your attic there Anne.

Special Ethnic Minority status has not conferred one extra right or entitlement on them nor taken any away from the rest of us.

    Scaremongering Johnny.

So it's ok to pick on a minority to gain favour with the majority ? And your attempted humour has gone to the dogs.

    Where?

    Casey was.
SEMS has not made travellers anymore entitled to anything only inclusiveness and respect.

    Picked on?

How does a call for equality (when asked for his opinion may I add) equate to picking on anyone

I didn't hear Casey say anything remotely resembling picking on anyone, indeed I took no notice of his comments until the media attempted to portray them as such, which you seem to have taken the bait for right enough.

3 x times you've now introduced Goebells to the threadand compared him with Casey. You clearly lack any common sense judgement to make an observation on what constitutes humour.

    I'm ok with that.

Your so blinkered in your hatred you can't see the obvious comparison, why do you think PC is on 2% in the polls, luckily most people can see through a campaign of bs apart from yourself of course

We do not know how he is polling as the latest poll data was not taken after the comments he made and the media storm that followed, so it could be a lot more than 2% for all we know.

Can you please point out what exactly Casey said that was scaremongering?

No one said anything about them being entitled to anymore or less than the rest of us either, just that it's a nonsense to define them as an ethnic minority to begin with.

They're all Irish people descendants from other Irish people, they have the protection of the state the same as everyone else has, and rightly so.

They're not persecuted or marginalised by the community, they choose to live their lives the way they do, they're a story of two types, either they don't have a pot to piss ins or they are going around in the top of the range 182 German SUVs, and displaying their extravagant wealth for all to see.

They have the same opportunities to get on in life the same as the rest of us, the constitution guarantees it actually.

I repeat, I'm not a traveller basher, barely took much notice of Casey's comments originally, but the way the media and their buddies in govt have lined up to insinuate he is racist/bigoted for speaking about a fact, and with Leo Varadkar basically pleading with people not to vote for him, and with Higgins credibility in shreds (man of the people and socialist me hole) I am now giving Casey my vote.

Protest vote it may be, but I'm happy enough with that. In fact if it were up to me, the farce that is the presidency would be scrapped anyway, so I'm happy enough with this stance.

Y’know, it really shows the complete panic of the anti Casey posters who keep reverting to a poll that was completed prior to Casey making comments that resonated with many citizens.

2% in the polls where before Casey called for equality among Irish citizens.
A quick look at different social media platforms today will tell you that 2% has grown dramatically.

I bare no hatred to anyone, but strongly dislike being pissed on and being told it's raining.

And he referred to Leo as the Indian, but I guess that's ok with you too ?

    Have you a link?

I'd read and then reread the text within any link if I where you, lest you embarrass yourself further.

If Casey said that, then he's wrong.

Leo is half Indian, half Irish. Irish mum and Indian dad.

Is ' “travellers are basically people camping in other people’s land” the truth or a generalisation?

Where did he say that, show us the link, video, radio clip, whatever, before you attribute a comment to someone. Have seen some vague links to it earlier today but they have disappeared, so please link rather than make assertions

Actually, part of the time frame of when this poll was conducted came after Casey`s comments so your statement is not completely true
