Tony is a specialist. There are others too. And so we can ask Tony, as a specialist, why he is saying 2m when other specialists are saying 1.5m and I'm sure he can clearly outline why in layman's terms if necessary.

Tony is an administrator. How long is it since he actually practiced medicine. I would also hazard a guess that high flyers in medicine do not go into administration.

Each week i travel about 320km to collect and drop off my daughter. No travel restriction is going to stop me from doing so nor have the Gardai at any checkpoint iv come across. I'm amazed at the amount of people who have stopped taking their kids just because they think they cannot travel. Some kids are missing on out having much needed interactions with both parents because of this stupid travel restriction when there is no need. Anyone parent who has to travel to see their kids can do so irrespective of what the travel limit is. Doing so is far more important than ahereing to some rediculous restriction.

The sooner it is done away with the better as it means those people in fear of meeting a checkpoint can finally go out and see their families.
Child access has always been one of the exceptions allowed to the travel restrictions.

Gerry Killeen was on Pat Kenny today. I found the conversation not very enlightening. A lot of vague generalities and home spun advice rather than discussion of the science. eg 1 metre versus 2 metre physical distancing - why can't you stand further back and talk louder? That's not going to inform policy decisions on how to re-open the economy. He also pointed out that case figures are serious underestimated, and the only figure that matters is zero, but no doubt or discussion about how we know we are at zero, or how to keep it at zero. Disappointing.

I just spoke to someone who works in a facility in Dublin that educates and looks after people with disabilities including blind people. The HSE will not let the facility re-open due to Covid. Many of the people are left at home with parents in their 80s who cannot deal with their needs. This is absolutely scandalous, whatever about our economy, the social problems are building up and many are facing catastrophe.

He was on rte this morning, would safely discard anything he says. He's living in the clouds, just look at what he's said previously, out of touch completely.

No idea how he gets airtime still nationally when all he does is scare the people that listen to it with his ramblings

And dont go to Zumba classes no matter what

"lists an outbreak in a dormitory for migrant workers in Singapore linked to almost 800 cases; 80 infections tied to live music venues in Osaka, Japan; and a cluster of 65 cases resulting from Zumba classes in South Korea"

    He's mad

Keeping existing restrictions for another two to four months

    Yeah great plan Professor

Keeping borrowing more money and keep businesses closed

Have people not being able to see friends, family, partners for another two to four months

That will be great for peoples mental health but it will 'crush' the curve

Good point. Someone was telling me this morning that the risk of infection indoors has a lot to do with the amount of talking going on. Choir practice, standing close together and singing has to be off the scale. Maybe call centres are risky too because the people are yapping on the phone the whole time. And maybe, it's why there has been so few cases in supermarkets because people are not talking to each other (and why it's a good idea that only one person from each household does the shopping). I think we need to get more discerning about the relative risks of different indoor environments and maybe treat them differently.

    Yeah i agree.

If it is him i actually think its a bloody positive that hes out and about himself and effectively trying to do normal things.

Maybe if people see him out and about in a park, with other people and none the bloody worse for it, it might get them to recalibrate their compass from "oh my god we are all going to die or kill people if we try to do normal things" to "oh ok, maybe its ok"

Good luck to him, now lets move to more normal quicker please!

Because Pat Kenny is a fearmonger who would be happy if we locked down forever. He cant stop going on about 'plumes' of COVID

0:04 of the video is amazing. Talk about jealous

at 0:33 you can see 0 social distancing and less than 1 metre or so between reporters. 0 masks...... what the hell is this

I’m in your shoes too regarding my kids. I travelled daily 30km round trip Monday to Friday ever since this started. I never met a Garda road block but if I did I’d just ask them where in legislation does it say kids should not be allowed to see their Father. Their well being is my number one job full stop. I’ve a cousin who does the opposite. He’s too busy being scared and lying under his bed in the fetal position suckling off whatever BS the government or RTÉ fear mongers to him. He hasn’t seen his daughter since the 30th of March. A lot of people need to understand the word “priority”

Good stuff I applaud anyone who takes your stance. I feel sad for those who choose to let fear override their own desire to spend time with their own kids.

    More good news coming out

"A meat processing plant in Co Waterford that produces approximately 400 million burgers a year for McDonalds, has today resumed production.

With the fast food giant starting to open up restaurants again across Europe, workers at the Dawn Meats processing facility at Carrolls Cross, have recommenced patty production after a two-month gap."

Well that comes with an expense but with a stall you don't need to be known - having your wares on display will get a lot more attention than having people trying to search for you.

I mean what's wrong with an open-air market once precautions are in place?

Of course if precautions are in place.

A virtual market be nice where you walk through with the aid of the mouse where you can view items and purchase them. It can be significantly larger than the real market.

I know but the problem is those who think it isnt allowed and that includes some of the Gardai.

Everyone is entitled to have a break.

The transmission situation is under control at the moment. The situation that isn't under control is the economic collapse situation which funnily enough is going take growing a pair of balls and standing up against exactly the sort of hysteria on demonstration here to resolve.

And then the drone delivers to your door - no need to engage with anyone at all.

Meanwhile I will be down in the real market. And maybe for fun I might get a sling shot and shoot down those drones....

So he isn't allowed a day off now ? Everyone is allowed down time.

We are always talking about mental health and breaks are very important for that, or are we all talk here???

Coronavirus 'disappearing' so fast Oxford vaccine has 'only 50% chance of working'

There is only a 50% chance of the Oxford coronavirus vaccine working because cases in the UK are declining so fast, one of the scientists behind it has warned.

Great article RE covid disappearing. it genuinely has ran out of steam big time, Brazil feels like the only place on the planet (+South korean nightclubs) where covid still lingers

This is the problem, it looks like in most countries regardless of restrictions it seems to stagnate and then go down in terms of case numbers, is it simply burning out? Who knows. But in terms of vaccine development it's not good, can't test a vaccine if nobody is getting infected
