    Empathy? In what way?

Vitamin D determines severity in COVID-19 so government advice needs to change, experts urge
Researchers from Trinity College Dublin are calling on the government in Ireland to change recommendations for vitamin D supplements.

A new publication from Dr Eamon Laird and Professor Rose Anne Kenny, School of Medicine, and the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), in collaboration with Professor Jon Rhodes at University of Liverpool, highlights the association between vitamin D levels and mortality from COVID-19.

How is Sweden the poster boy country for the ‘no lockdown’ right wing morons doing ?

As of today, 4,029 people have died from Covid-19 in Sweden, a country with a population of ~10m. Denmark, Finland and Norway, which each have about 5m inhabitants, have recorded death tolls of 563, 308 and 235, respectively.

Sweden’s death toll is therefore well over 3 times higher than the combined death toll of its Scandinavian neighbours, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

Not only that… according to figures collated by the Our World in Data website, Sweden had 6.08 deaths per million inhabitants per day on a rolling seven-day average between May 13 and May 20.

This is the highest in the world, above the UK, Belgium and the US, which have 5.57, 4.28 and 4.11 respectively.

    And for what?

It does not even seem to have produced herd immunity. Just 7.3% of Stockholm’s inhabitants had developed Covid-19 antibodies by the end of April.

Sweden’s state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell, who championed this lunatic ‘herd immunity’ notion, has a lot to answer for.

I learned a new word today ' Hypophora' . Example , a person who poses a question and goes on to answer it themselves.

    Is hypophora really a word?

Evidently, from the Google search I just did, it is.

    Good news allowed?

Spain reporting just 132 new cases today, Italy reporting 300.

In the last week the EU has had 31,427 cases and 3703 deaths (according to worldometer).

Not bad going given it has been 4 times higher and a population of 446 million.

Very selective data reporting, since start of virus Belguim 804 deaths per million population.Spain UK USA Italy all more deaths than Sweden.Ireland not far behind.Rather than call people morons who hold different views than you regarding Swedens approach maybe you should quote meaningful data instead of picking an arbitrary period of one week.

    Excellent news.

And I'm sure the ditching of the masks in certain cases will lighten the mood of a lot of folks on here.

On the RTÉ news just there, the story of the elderly man getting covid19 and recovering giving a message for people to comply and follow the guidance. Meanwhile, RTÉ fail to include a caveat that his own reckless behaviours lead to him getting covid19 by still living with his nurse daughter.

Rte living off covid sponsored government advertising this virus has saved them

In the last 6 weeks Sweden have fallen from an average of 70 deaths per day to 50. Ireland has fallen from an average of 40 to less than 10, daily new cases here about 10% of what they were 6 weeks ago, Sweden barely unchanged. That’s the difference,

Tuesday is the day that matters - the rolling five day tally is what you need to read.

The new cases tally is being quite persistent at about 60.
