Ubisoft had a launch live stream yesterday. 1st hour is campaign so I skipped that but the Arcade mode looks so class. I've never given map building a go but it looks like you could spend all your FC5 time just building maps.

Solo/Co-OP missions, multiplayer DM or Team (max 12 people) & Journey (like an adventure mode where the goal is to reach the end of the map, up to the map editor how they want to challenge the player)

They show off 2 maps, 1st a sunken city (getting from rooftop to rooftop by jetski) in an Outpost mission (clear all enemies). Then a Journey map created by a regular map editor fan they invited to the studio. Looked like a level out of the Last of Us.

They said they have a map releasing after launch that will be a safari mission and will only contain animals you have to hunt.

The Map Editor can make multiple loadouts for players to choose from when starting or 1 loadout with specific weapons. They can toggle binoculars on/off (for tagging enemies), enemy clothing, animals, less gravity, weather, day/night, vehicles, etc. Once DLC packs release, their assets will be loaded into arcade mode free for anyone to use.

I'd say there will be some class night time foggy maps with zombies.

They also said along with the 3 dlc packs announced, there are a further 3 packs they haven't talked about yet. Would hardly be part of the season pass, maybe season 2 or something but interested to hear more.

You can browse maps on their website, link your account and save favourites, save certain editors to follow them, browse friends maps, etc. Looking forward to playing some maps by people on here.

Lastly, the devs will be looking for maps to endorse. If yours gets chosen, they will port it across all platforms, not the just one you made it on.

I'm really interested to see how this game plays out. I reckon the success of AC:O is after waking them up, and they realise if they make games and content that people actually want, we will pay for it. Sounds like they really want this game to 'last' longer than any of the previous FC games. They're doing a great job at the hype!

It's a brilliant move by them and has worked for GTA 5. I'm delighted they've gone this route, it gives multiplayer serious longevity.

They said they will constantly have live events and every friday will be arcade friday where you log in and play specific events/challenges to win unique reqrds that you can use in campaign mode. They said it's the biggest post launch plan in the series history, sounds good anyway.

I can't seem to see any other game types for PVP other than Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch which is a bit disappointing, but maybe they'll add CTF later. That's a gametype Map Makers love to get creative with.

FC map editors are usually pants and its not really map making but object placing for a few determined game modes.

Can't find anything definitive, but with co-op, do both players get progression in their own game or does it only progress one person's save?

    "PROGRESSION

    Q. How is my progression saved when I invite a friend to join my game in co-op?
    A. In the co-op mode, the narrative of the game is centered on the player hosting the game. As the host, you keep both your World Progression and your Player Progression, exactly as you would in single player mode."

Hmmm, not really a fan of that system.

It makes sense tho, both players progressing only works when they play the game together all the time.

I'm not a fan myself. Monster Hunter or Borderlands are a good example of co-op progression. If you do the mission at all... You did the mission.

    Map editor looks incredibly detailed.

Preload is now available on PS4, download size is 29.387GB

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

PC preload earlier roughly the same size.

Hopefully I have issues running it in Ultra and 4k, urge to buy something shiny for PC is rising :D

Also you can share the Ubi Code for 20% off, I have around 700 points left so if anyone needs a code let us know.

A guy from Eurogamer went about making a map and was given a challenge of including the pub from eastenders, a fashion show with catwalk and the wicker man. Seriusly ****ing cool and this video actually has me interested in making my own map seeing what he did.

Anyone get a Smyths preorder collection before and know when they send the text out? Any chance of a shnakey Monday collection?

Finished the book yesterday and was good, very interested to see the crossover between that and the game.

Have they done anything with the pre-order console bonus of FC3 in terms of textures etc. I've yet seen anything to confirm they have, but I'd have to imagine they're using assets from the PC versions and not just the draw distances etc of the original 360/pc3 editions.

Eurogamer yet again with a review that spends more time pondering why the game isn't a political social statement, rather than you know, just an enjoyable game. That's it for me now anyway, after this and the KCD review, Eurogamer can go **** itself hard with it's PC notions.

I was disappointed with the Eurogamer review as I was expecting a better "score". Then I read the review and as you said, it seems to be flooring it's opinion on the game because it's not challenging societal issues as they are today. Which is a) irrelevant for a game when it never claimed to and b) totally misguided as the game was essentially developed and designed pre-Trump and pre-todays issues.

    Very disappointed.

    Other reviews (thanks VG247)

The VG247 review – The best the series has been since 2012
    Eurogamer – No score
    The Guardian – 3/5

    Destructoid – 7.5
    GamesBeat – 85/100
    GamesRadar+ – 4/5
    Game Informer – 7.5
    GameSpot – 9

We Got This Covered – 4.5/5
    Windows Central – 5/5
    COGconnected – 90/100
    Hobby Consolas [Spanish] – 93/100
    VGN [Italian]- 9.2

Yeah this seems to be the latest EG craze now - go against the general consensus while also showing how "woke" they are, expecting games to make some sort of statement while ignoring the most basic question to be asked - is it fun?

They are turning in to another Kotaku and it's a shame really but if that's the direction they want to go, count me out of ever looking to them for opinion again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

Yeah it's getting good reviews alright. They're pretty much all saying the narrative is muddled and loses focus but that the satire is good.

I might try flying through the single player, but maybe skipping some of the side missions and activities that bog Ubisoft games down a bit.

They don't "expect" it to make a statement. They are saying it is trying to make a statement and fails. It's also quite clear that this area of review is related to the story and delves into details of the gameplay and also comes to the conclusion that it is boring. Anyone like me who bought Far Cry 4 and absolutely hated it - will not be surprised.

Anybody with an actual interest in the gameplay of it should avoid Eurogamer - strange isn't it how they are the only naysayers in a long list of reviews? I hated FC4 as well but I cannot wait for this, everything I have seen looks to be the furthest from "boring" possible.

Edit: Just as a side point, does anyone have recommendations for a site that actually reviews the games & gameplay minus the social/political bull****? Seems to be becoming rare these days.
