Just wanted to say I really enjoyed the Curragh on Sunday (despite the .1! :) )

Only played it last Sunday for the first time in an open. Didn't play that great but I really enjoyed it too. Had a nice steady start until that par 3. It's only 120 yards and made a bags of it.

    I'll be back too.

that has to be the smallest green on a gui course in Ireland 12 paces across and 16 deep, one of the best short par 3's i have played.

^ Delighted to hear ye enjoyed my home course. I played in it myself yesterday. Course is in fantastic condition at the minute, amazing the difference a bit of sunshine can bring.

I'll get a ribbing for this, but, wait till the 5th tee box is clear (you have to anyway) and lay up to the right if you are in any doubt of your distances!! Short or left and its a very tough up and down, long and its OB.

i would expect whites for intermediate. blues for junior. very manageable with little wind, different kettle of fish if its blowing

thought the pins were in tough positions alright but they are at least the same for everyone. With the Junior off the white markers they have to up the difficulty in some fashion. The strong breeze was more of an effect on scores than pin positions for me

Didn't play myself but spoke with a few lads who 3/4/5 putted first hole.
Most commented on a few pints they felt were unfair

First hole tough alright. Its a championship course though so you have to expect it to be tough.

I only had 1 putt on the first myself

I played with Ross Williams - he had a 10ft birdie putt on the first - hit it a foot past the hole and the wind took it down the slope to leave a 15 ft par putt, which he missed.

I'd say they were caught out by the wind with some of the positions and it is no surprise a local won it.
