Seems a lot was leaked for companies just going with it.

Enjoyed 5 except the forced kidnappings and piss poor DLC.

But on the whole it wasnt a bad game.

I suppose this is leading on directly from far cry 5 so people might want to avoid this if they plan on finishing FC 5. Looking forward to seeing what they have planned. An apocalyptic setting could be cool in FC.

I love me some Far cry !

It's a sequel to FC5? Balls. Guess I'm gonna have to finish that at some stage.

Edit: Also, to be on the safe side, seeing as it does appear to be a sequel, if people are discussing 5 in this, make sure to use spoiler tags, some of us may not have finished it, and seeing as each game previously was a separate story, people may expect the same and have 5 spoiled accidentally.

I'll be staying wary of this if it is an actual sequel to FC5. FC 5 Major Spoiler
I still haven't forgiven it for wasting 40 hours of my life for THAT ****ty ending, one of the most pretentious and worst ending choices to a game this generation

Its in you and any others best interest to avoid this thread then, as the trailer will most likely have locations. These will instantly spoil 5 for you.

Yeah, I didn't look at it and am opting out of this until I finish 5 (which may never happen!).

They'll need to change things up drastically to get me interested again. Far Cry 3 was a breath of fresh air, 4 was more of the same if entertaining but by 5 it felt like they'd stretched the whole formula and premise too far.

The games just get too repetitive too quickly. I found 5 to be better than 4, I just couldn't bring myself to finish 4 whereas I was able to push through with 5 until the end. Hopefully, they change things up with this new one but I worry it will be just as repetitive as every Far Cry and Assassin's Creed game. Saying that I'd love a sequel to blood dragon. That game was awesome.

Options for the type of game FC is are limited:

Late game is rinse repeat, rinse repeat, gets repetitive.
Focus on story and game is too short.
Add in grind (AO,Destiny) and its a different game.

The gunplay and gameplay are as expected generally decent in these games, its the above that can become a turn off.

The best FPS single player in recent times is Titanfall 2, nice compact story with levels inspired by Nintendo it seems at times. But it had an excellent Multiplayer component. FC doesnt have that, i think they should go open world with short decent story and give you tonnes of tools and "grinds" for the world. And have a solid MP component.

It's part of what I think made Blood Dragon so good. Sure the humour and setting was great but it was relatively short compare to the other Far Cry games so it didn't become repetitive and samey.

That pretty much applies to most of the Far Cry games and its as if Ubisoft just have to have crazy weird endings, with only Far Cry 1 and 3 having a non-WTF just happened type ending.

Where's the major spoiler? You didn't say anything about it other than you didn't like the ending. I want to know what happened dammit :pac:

    A **** ending could be a great beginning :D

The ending is a bit **** but in thew context of the above trailer maybe not so.

Is that Joseph Seed on the car?

Could be an interesting premise but they're going to have to go a lot further with the gameplay than they did in 5.

Basically the ending is....and suddenly, NUKES! Turns out that the insane cultists you've been trying to bring to justice throughout the game have either correctly predicted the end of the world and/or set off some nukes. The ambiguity makes a bad ending even worse.

That comes after a truly awful final battle in which you kill all you friends and revive them a dozen times or so before you can finally do damage to the main enemy boss.

I haven't played far cry 5 because I knew the endings were **** but is that the canon ending?

Yes, the other endings are even worse :D

I remember individual games of MW2 from 2009 better than Far Cry 5. Something to do with a cult, flying helicopters, a bear and a dog companions.
Must not buy 6 at launch but will pick it up....probably at launch.

"Outrage marketing" It's a thing these days. Lunatics on the internet will go mental over something, hundreds of articles will be written about it and the product's name will be plastered everywhere.

Netflix's Witcher series used it too. There was a "leak" that Ciri was going to be played by a black girl, people lost their shít. In the end, it was a white girl anyway.

The same old crowd will get pissy over this cover with theories of "ethnic women killing evil white males!" when it'll be the same as every other Far Cry game and the protagonist will be a boring dryballs regardless of race/gender.

Can't wait for it. Only finished FC5 100% the other day. Took a long time but what a great game.
My only issue with it was the poxy planes that flew over your hear every 2 minutes and tried to kill you.

There's a video which gives a fair bit away:

And a release date of next February 15th.

The video suggests it's more than a re-skin on the FC5 map, but that release date is very close.

Looks a lot like Rage 2 and it must be the lushest post apocalyptic setting I've ever seen.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,983 ✭✭✭✭tuxy

They continue with the same formula as Assassin Creed. Yearly releases with very slight changes.
Not bad, just boring. So I'll do the same as I do with Assassins Creed. Buy it once every couple of years, that way at least it feels like a new experience when I do play it.

In hindsight not very ambiguous if you listened to the radio stations referencing the escalating nuclear conflict with north korea and the middle east being regularly mentioned

So in that games time line North Korea was a super power?

Rage 2 is still the post-apocalyptic-shooter-with-pink-text I'm most excited about.

Seems to have a lot more RPG elements this time with craftable weapons and upgradeable base
