    Can someone please explain?

Yes, I can: no-one cares enough to watch it, and up until five posts ago you didn;t care enough to watch the thread!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

The video IS hilarious, especially the parts I’ve listed.

If people just watched it they’d agree.

Also from 0:50 to 1:20, where he says the poll is fake and destroys the front page in anger had me in stitches.

I know it seems weird that I posted this, it's not to promote it its just to share that I found this video to be an absolute hoot. I think his accent contributes to that.

I am confused about the mask though.

He wears the mask in every video. There's some where he's "patrolling" his property which are particularly scary. The guy is some kind of prepper who believes in some absolutely nuts conspiracy theories.

btw, I posted it already but you do realise he was completely wrong about that poll.

Did the OP really create an account just to promote their awful video?

I watched some of the video, not really my kind of humour and could only watch 2 minutes of it, in saying that the Guardian is pure trash, Owen Jones is basically far left and uses his position at the paper spread propaganda instead of truth.

But people understand WHY I find those parts of the video funny?

The Guardian is one of the best newspapers/media organisations in the world, but it's also full of complete nonsense at times too.

People who call it a Marxist newspaper are talking complete bollocks and have genuinely no idea what "Marxism" actually means.

It's a left-leaning paper whose opinions and coverage of news tends to reflect the views of its readership - which is mainly made up of liberal minded middle class folks. These people aren't Marxists, you idiots.

In recent years - particularly since Brexit and Trump it has got a bit shriller in tone and slightly more dogmatic, which is a reflection, I guess, of the polarisation of nearly every major media organisation. I still read what its writers have to say on the big issues, but you have to be aware how it is coming at things, generally, from a particular point of view. I don't think it could be claimed to be un-biased, but it's up to the reader to critically assess the reportage, rather than to just dismiss it as bunk or accept it blindly as gospel. It's how you should assess everything these days. I respect The Guardian, but there's no way I think it should be your only source of news.

It is painfully "right-on" at times and it can be a trip to read what's on its front-page compared to some of its media rivals, but I still think it's a worthwhile paper. They still engage in worthwhile reporting in news, sport, culture, you name it.There's plenty of good writers and it's such a huge media organisation that you will find dissenting opinions in there too.

Lots of papers are "left leaning"

The guardian is different in that it's so explicitly middle class, intellectually, culturally and even in terms of the writer profile.

It's a paper for people who grew up in impeccably bourgeois surroundings but who have a life long desire for revolution, does not matter if its a sneaking regard for socialist uprisings they can salivate over from an office in West London or a radical feminist movement who wants women to be renamed womyn.

It's a publication for people with time on their hands

The only good writer the Guardian has with respect to politics and social commentary is John Harris. The rest are pompous arseholes who are more intersted in "sticking it" to conservatives then giving any real proper analysis.

It's sports writing is quite good however.

Completely agree with this. I alternate between laughing at and ignoring its lunatic feminist fringe and right-on articles.

But I still think it’s a great publication. There are so many well-written articles that have nothing to do with the prevailing political landscape. The Long Read especially is quality. I honestly think that people who refuse to read any Guardian article are missing out.

June 2018 UK newspaper circulation, any guess who's bottom of the pile?

I presume that’s physical paper circulation? I’d be interested to see online figures. I’d expect the Daily Mail to be top but I doubt The Guardian would be bottom of that list. It’s one of the few papers that doesn’t put a limit on how many free articles you can read so naturally people aren’t going to part with cash to buy it. It’s not at all surprising that it’s bottom of the paper circulation heap.

I know you can argue that the Daily Mail is also completely free online and still has a decent paper circulation but the Daily Mail is a tabloid and will have tabloidy headlines that grab attention in newsagents queues. Newspapers of its ilk are designed to hook the lowest common denominator. That’s straight from the mouth of an acquaintance of mine who used to be a sub-editor for one of the red tops.

It's still three times less than it's comparabales such as the Telegraph or Times.

Both online and print figures are in decline, think the mail is the most read (english lang) newspaper in the world, popular even in the US/Aus.

The top 4 group for online 2018 is:

    Mail Online 11,459,894
    Metro 2,175,005
    Reach (Mirror/Express/Star) 8,478,838
    The Sun 4,846,527

No mention of the Guardian, it's well designed, but has too far too many ads pleading for donations.

Perhaps the most sensational red top is the Express, you can be g'teed any or all of the following: WW3, Ufos, economic collapse, supervolcanoes, mega-quakes and disease-x all due shortly.

Apparently that donations model works very well for Guardian. If it stops them from adopting a paywall, I’m all for it.

The comparables you mention both operate a paywall system. Less than ten free articles for each per month for the Times. The Telegraph is more generous than that, I think. So it’s not surprising that their paper circulation is larger. I’d imagine that the Guardian has more online traffic than either the Times and the Telegraph.
