I think there is a 2019 model coming out, so this one will probably be on sale a load of times between now and February. Always on sale anyway.

Cheers. That'll hold me a day or two anyway :D

It’s not always on sale, there was one sale since Black Friday last year and that was only 20 quid off

    The internet isn’t for everyone

I bought 3 this year an none of them were more than €165

France in July was around €160 exactly
UK in September was £152 (Think that was around €163)
    Germany 2 days ago €152.50

I have seen it a few more times. This is definitely not the last time it will be on sale. Maybe before Christmas it might be.

Just as fall back in case any of the other offers end and are missed.
Amazon Spain has the shield with remote for €149 €161.30 delivered to Ireland €153.75 delivered to UK.
Shield with remote and controller is €179.99.

What's the best app for using with m3u's, a decent EPG is a requirement

Can the rte player be side loaded onto it

    Doesn’t work
RTÉ player barely works on my Mac never mind a side loaded version
    It’s a terrible player

I did it, need a mouse to navigate it. Not really user friendly but it works about the same as RTE player on any other platform... which isn't great

You can sideload the APK fine, you just need mouse support.

    Easier to just Chromecast tbh.

No Chromecast support on Android, iOS only.

Only thing that works on RTÉ player is the feckkng adverts

I sideloaded the apk but I can't get the player to run on the Nvidia.

The graphics of the player are showing but it is stalling when it loads.

Maybe another option is to sideload chrome and watch rte player via chrome.

Don't think so. It still uses Flash which most sites stopped using years ago and most browser no longer allow

Can you screen mirror from your phone? I use the app on the smart TV.
I also tried side loading it and I can (half) navigate it using the shield mouse app but that only half works to be honest but managed to watch live there as a test using the mouse

The saorview connect box has the rte player with no ads. Nice user experience but not in HD.
Iplayer is in a league of its own.

Tg4 player is also on it, again not in HD.

The Saorview Connect box and the Nvidia Shield should never be mentioned in the same thread. They are opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of media devices.

There's a working plugin for enigma 2 satellite boxes.

For someone that has dvds lying around the place what is the best way to get these onto a hard drive so they can be played on the tv at any time?

I have a bluray player but I have all my hdmi slots on the tv filled up and I wouldn't mind having a solution.

Does everything have to be burned on a pc? Slow process?

I have stuff like Blue Planet and Planet Earth, wedding and sport occasion dvds.

Might be simpler getting a HDMI switcher....

For the very occasional time I use it, I can just plug out the chromecast I guess.

Are content providers like the bbc still only selling their product on dvd? I would have thought people would much prefer to download it these days.

Is bbc iplayer and vpn available on these enigma boxes
