Bumping this on the chance that boarhunter will stumble upon the forum again.

Toulon are playing Munster in January in the Heineken Cup (when I'm in France) and I'm desperate to get tickets.

What's the best way of getting tickets in your opinion?

ps I'm looking to get 6 but would really settle for just the 1 all the same. :D

Hi Thomond, i'm going to look into this for you. give me a little while. My first guess would be that HCup tickets are available only at the stadiums since French clubs are aware that irish and UK supporters will otherwise buy all the tickets online ;)

Let me confirm that to you in a sec

Ailing French rugby giants Stade Francais' future was plunged into doubt further on Tuesday after it was revealed former coach Bernard Laporte was suing the Canadian foundation FACEM for fraud after they failed to produce the 12million euros they had promised to invest in the club.

Laporte, formerly also coach of the French national side and then secretary of state for sports from 2007-09, had announced with some fanfare earlier this month he had persuaded FACEM to invest the 12million euros which would pay off the club's debt and save it from relegation owing to its parlous finances.

However, a source close to the judicial enquiry confirmed to AFP that Laporte had made a formal complaint on Monday or Tuesday to the under-secretariat of the fraud office.

According to the websites l'Equipe.fr and Rugbyrama.fr the Canadians had not come up with the money by Monday evening, which precipitated Laporte's complaint.

Stade Français also announced that club president Max Guazzini was taking legal action.

"In both his role as President of Stade Francais and on a personal note, he has made a formal complaint against X in Paris for fraud.

"In fact, after an enquiry made last weekend, it appeared that the documents and guarantees furnished by the FACEM Corporation, rubberstamped by a major international bank, were false.

"The FACEM Corporation, via the Rugby Developpements Society, committed themselves to take a majority shareholding in Stade Français Paris by increasing its capital by 12million euros.

"It was only at a meeting yesterday (Monday) afternoon, at the headquarters of this bank that Stade Français Paris had confirmation of this fraud in which it is the victim," the club added in a statement.

The 12million euros would have represented a 66percent stakeholding in the club.

Without that cash injection Stade would face almost certain relegation as they have accumulated debts of 5million euros - mainly because of the failure of the advertising company Sportys.

Their financial health will now be re-examined by the Rugby National League's financial committee on June 27.

"Since last night (Monday) a new round of talks has been opned so as to ensure the the future and the long term health of the club," Stade announced in a statement.

Laporte, who guided France to two successive World Cup semi-finals in 2003 and 2007, has a strong attachment to the club. Having been lured there by flamboyant owner Guazzini he took them from the third division to the first before winning the championship in 1998.

Financed by radio mogul Guazzini's money they went on to win another four national titles in the next decade and reach the European Cup final twice.

However, success on the pitch has disappeared since their last title in 2007, failing to reach the Top 14 play-offs the past two seasons - though they lost to English side Harlequins in the final minutes of the European Challenge Cup final last term.

They sought to reduce their huge wage bill as soon as the season ended.
England flanker James Haskell was the highest profile name to be cut from the roster.

He was joined on the departures list by Ollie Phillips, Hugo Southwell, Arnaud Marchois, Noel Oelschig, Juan Leguizamon and Mauro Bergamasco.
On the flip side, however, they have been shopping around for new blood, albeit largely in the shape of former stars past their prime.

Twelve new arrivals have been announced, among them the former All Black scrum half Byron Kelleher from Toulouse, Australian fly-half Paul Warwick from Munster as well as the Toulon pair Felipe Contepomi and Paul Sackey.

Someone mentioned a French website where they sold quite a few Top-14 related test jerseys. Could someone please point me in that direction? I'm most interested in Biarritz Olympique.

I'm repeating myself here but i'd really like to see Aironi/Treviso pick up Parisse and really throw down a marker if Stade Francais go down the tubes.

Here you go. They dont have too many Test jerseys though, as they cost a lot more in France than they do here...

'If we don't find the money, then we are finished,' said Guazzini.

'We will be relegated to Federale 1 (third division),' commented Guazzini, who added that in such a scenario the club would be obliged to file for bankruptcy.

Guazzini, a qualified lawyer who advised senior Socialist politicians and then made his fortune from NRJ radio station, earlier told radio station France Info it didn't matter who came forward with the money as their situation was so desperate.

'Everyone can come to Stade Français,' said the 63-year-old.
Either to make a donation or to take majority control of the club.
The situation today, is that it is a battle to save a magnificent club, a world rugby mark, a very popular club.

'Me, I will leave, I will give way to someone who really wants the job. There are people in this country who love sport and rugby and who have enough money to save the club.'

Guazzini said that there was some light at the end of the tunnel.

'There are negotiations going on, that is all I can say at this stage.'

Poor Thomas Domingo just back from injury got an horror come back and will be out for the season :( can't find the video but it is a really horrific injury.

    Poor guy.

Any idea why Mason is barely playing with Toulon? Also when is Giteau set to arrive?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭BoarHunter

Giteau is due on Nov 12th in Toulon. For Mason I think it's just an Integration thing. They're not rushing him into the team. I didn't ear anything special from the Toulon Forums ( which are hard to follow to be honnest :D )

  • Registered Users Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

How do you reckon they will fit Giteau, Basteraud and Mason all in the same team? Wilkinson will obviously play 10 so Giteau will have to play centre. They also have Palisson too to fit in somewhere. Rooney has been doing well at fullback by all accounts and they have Lamont to come back too. David Smith has been outstanding on the wing and has scored plenty of tries so it's hard to leave him out too!

    9. Tillous-Borde
    10. Wilkinson
    11. Basteraud
    12. Giteau
    13. Mason
    14. Smith
    15. Palisson

    21. Cibray/Henjak,
    22. Lovobalavu
    23. Rooney/Lamont

    Some depth.

Ouch... Totally missed that. He has to be unfortunate. Or was he coming back too early (didn't really think so...).
It could well be the "classic" compensation case (he had broken his right knee cruciate ligament and now the same on the left knee) ...

Bad news not only for him but also for Clermont and the French team.

No it's nothing to do with his previous injury. When you see the video you see someone falling on his leg and the knee breaking with a 90 degree angle on the side .... It's just horrible bad luck

USAP is really struggling this season with another home defeat to Stade Francais yesterday even conseding the WBP to SF.

Same situation for Biarritz losing away to Racing conceding also the WBP.

Important home victory for Bayonne against Lyon that could only take the LBP. They could have hoped for more but as usual they missed too many chances.

But most importantly :D Montpellier benefitted from their H Cup good games and we beat Clermont at home just conceding the LBP to our opponents in the end. This is a critical victory. And definitely our season is on !
Gorgodze was again immense. Nagusa fit, quick and inspired. Paillaugue solid in his kicking. Trinh-Duc & Ouedraogo a bit disappointing, maybe tired. We had a very strong scrum but were awful in the line-out. We need to improve also our handling of the game. We tend to play too much, trying passing game too often. It resulted in a 80 m try today. But also to a foul that lead to Clermont LBP and put us under huge pressure for the last couple of mins. We have to find a better balance between our kicking game and our passing game.
    Overall encouraging though :).

    - Edit -

Toulouse conceded a draw in Brive 9-9 after having lead 9-0. They played a pretty bad game. They don't seem on top form anyway since the return of the internationals...

Castres came back to draw at home against Toulon. One half each, 1st one for the red & black, second one for the home side.

Agen continued its great season beating Begles-Bordeaux in a old style game (24-15 only from penalty kicks).

I saw the USAP - Stade game yesterday, Perpignan were pretty awful.

Rory Lamont has left Toulon btw, Giteau is on the bench for them against Castres today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,262 ✭✭✭iroced

Yes. I don't understand what's happening in Perpignan. But the situation looks serious. My girlfriend who's from there thinks there had/has to be some problems between the staff and the players or between the president and the staff or... well some "inside pb".
Mas reaction after the game was strange. He didn't know what to say. He was not so sure about Delmas firing being the best solution... It sounded like there are some unsaid things within the club... Mas looked quite disenchanted. It's not like him, the catalan brave captain...

I was sorry not to be able to watch this game over the weekend. Delighted Montpol won. Were you at the game or were you able to get it on a live stream? At least I can see the Top 14 highlights tonight to get a sense of it... Maybe now they are tackling the T14 with all their players back they can start working their way away from the relegation zone!

    Just a live stream.

We won 29-23 ans shouldn't have put ourselves in such a pressured position a couple of minute sto the end. Clermint had the ball to win it while 15 min to the end we were 29-13 ahead. It shows the team is still fragile but the Leinster game really seems to have been the turning point of our season.

Hopefully we'll go through this intense (3 games) week without major troubles. The win against Clermont was critical as we're going to face Lyon away on Wednesday (it's a postponed game from GW 10) — Lyon has one more day to prepare that game — before going to Biarritz on Sunday — and Biarritz will also have one more day to get fit enough for that game —.
I don't understand why they didn't make us play Friday evening against Clermont and Tuesday in Lyon — Lyon, like Biarritz and Bayonne which are going to meat each other on Tuesday, all played on Friday. It seems we're being had here ...

    Biarritz: 15 Haylett-Petty, 14 Ngwenya, 13 Bosch, 12 Traille, 11 Balshaw, 10 Peyrelongue, 9 Roussarie, 8 Lakafia, 7 Harinordoquy, 6 Guyot, 5 Thion, 4 E Lund, 3 Marconnet, 2 August, 1 Barcella.
    Replacements: 16 Héguy, 17 Watremez, 18 Kodela, 19 Taele, 20 Gray, 21 Lesgourgues, 22 Baby, 23 Bolakoro.

    Bayonne: 15 Heymans, 14 Gerber, 13 Lacroix, 12 Mazars, 11 Rokocoko, 10 Boyet, 9 Philipps, 8 Lauaki, 7 Marmouyet,6 Baget, 5 Boutaty, 4 Flavell, 3 Tialata, 2 Roumieu, 1 Iguiniz.
    Replacements: 16 Da Ros, 17 Lafond, 18 Linde, 19 Haare, 20 Garcia, 21 Huget, 22 O'Connor, 23 Boyoud.

This is a resheduled match being played tommorrow night.

I find it surprising that Bayonne are +7 for this, Biarritz have only won 2 games all season and Yachvili is out.

    yep have gone for Bayonne

Weird to think Heymans plays for Bayonne now. Just goes to show the insane depth that Toulouse have.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,592 ✭✭✭GerM

+7 is generous but I think Biarritz will win the actual match. It's the Basque derby and form will go out the window to an extent. Home advantage will be significant and fans will be giving it loads. Biarritz have selected all their Frenchmen up front; I think they'll be seriously up for it.

I think they've always been really effective at keeping their squad fairly lean and showing guys the door in a subtle kind of way when they're getting on in years.

They have a conveyor belt of talent coming through it seems almost constantly (and are extremely effective at raiding their neighbours too!) and Noves seems to just do an awesome job of keeping competition for places in the squad. They really are a fantastic club, no doubt about it.
