I think it helps though but ya you'll still have the few who'll just play for that.

Got in early thanks to OSiriS myself :D

I feel there is some balance issues to work out.
Everywhere I look the top killer is Bastion?? (not sure if right name, robot dude who turns into a standing turret)
    ...
The engineer dude who plants a turret is op as fook. I placed that thing down and just watched the kills rack up.

Glad I could help out :)

I highlighted 2 perception issues here. The reality is that both classes are relatively weak and difficult to perform well with for good players. The problem is that for newcomers they are easy to play and easy to rack up kills with as they are difficult to deal with for newer opponents. I can assure you that there are plenty of counters out there, and once you start to learn them, it gets ALOT easier :)

Things like sheltering behind a Reinhardt shield while you take them out, flanking them, jumping Winston in on top of them. Ducking in and out from behind walls while taking pot shots with a high damage character like Pharrah or Hanzo all make short work of them. It helps to have someone tanky distract a Bastion while you take it out. with Torbjorn, you generally want to find and kill the turret at level 1 when it is squishier.

If you have trouble getting to grips with the shooter aspect of the game, don't overlook the support classes. there are some that don't require high accuracy like Lucio, Mercy and Symmetra, but are very powerful and very beneficial to your team.

Also...just to jump on the praise bandwagon...OSiris generously sorted me out without me even asking.
Very much appreciated. True gent ! Thanks :)

(But why didn't you give it to me weeks ago...damn you !! :P )

The thing some people appear to miss is that every hero has (at least) one counter hero; taking Bastion as an example he's easily taken out with either sniper class or if you go tank to pull him with the chain (forces him back to normal status). That's the whole point of the game; that you change hero as needed to deal with what the enemy team has (and then they change so you change to counter their change etc.).

Early access only started yesterday, so you just missed a few hours. ;-) They didn't work for closed beta. I had 3 codes so popped into this thread and gave them to the first 3 people who expressed interest in the game since the early access started.

Heroes are very well balanced,it was one of the main focuses during closed beta and they have done a wonderful job.
People new to the game just have not worked out how to play yet therefore some heroes might look OP but they are not and as mentioned above swapping heroes constantly is the key.

Yesterday was just a bad day for me. I'll get back to it later and hopefully have a better experience :P

Very laggy at the moment. A lot of skipping on PC.

Even in the training mode that bots were skipping.

I didn't notice that myself, although my graphics settings were automatically put on low so maybe that helped. :)

Did the tutorial and played some games against the AI - pretty good fun. Crap load of characters to learn it looks. Will play til the end of the beta but reckon I might get this.

Sadly this is still all people seem to care about. So many times people are standing off the objective trying to get kills instead of escorting.

Worst thing about this sort of game is playing with pugs. Feel like banging my head against a wall after the last three games :P

I played a few games last night and that pretty much summed up my experience. It looks great, and its nice and fast, but its almost certainly the type of game that you need a coordinated team to have fun / do well.

there was a guy on the other team playing as (i think the name was anyway) road hog, and he was wrecking shop with a chain / shotgun combo.

I'll play another bit to see if my initial thoughts hold up, but I've a feeling Its one that'll need more of a commitment to getting good than I'm able to give.

Played a game just there, playing vrs bots (Med/Hard) for the time being while trying out new chars.
But to echo the above point, nobody paid attention to the objective...to the point where a Medium difficulty AI bot team managed to push the payload all the way up to our final point.
Noone seems to read the chat, I tried to communicate with them.
Ended up having to switch classes to the big Turret guy, and just defend myself. He seems crazy OP at defense.

Also it keeps saying 'xyz joined voice chat' etc....but I never hear anyone talking ever.

The female sniper two shots him, the bow guy three shots him from full health and there's plenty of high spaces either can get to get those shots in if needed. This is before we talk doing something like Tracer or the Shotgun dude's teleport / ether walk in on him.

As with every character there's multiple ways of dealing with every character for countering the play :)

I had a couple of games there and I really like how different every character is and how your team really has to work together and be properly set up. It's a bit overwhelming as I haven't a notion which character to pick half the time.

I like the fact that it's so objective based but on one hand it's going to make it a nightmare a lot of the time, too many people just wanting to run and gun and rack up kills.

Decision made. Game is not for me. Most likely because I play solo. You really need a team for this.

Unplayable unfortunately. The rubber banding is persistent. My video below from the PC version of the game.

You do need team to a point but there are plenty of heroes great solo too.

  • Is there anyway to see your ping?

Sure it's not on your end? I've had zero issues with it on both PC and PS4.

    Unfortuntely not.

Multiplayer is solid for every PC game I play at the moment and ping is perfect. I get the same in the training area which isn't even multiplayer. Maybe I need to re-install the game.

  • I'm loving it so far but really, really reluctant to pay 60 quid for something that looks primed to be riddled with micro transactionns

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,365 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

I'm in love with this game. I like that every character can be hard-countered by a few others, you just need to learn to switch characters in-game if needed. I've been playing a lot of support, mainly because no one else will but the class can really help get the win. Favourite characters to play so far are Genji and Reinhardt.

For those complaining about Bastion's turret, try out Genji. His deflect ability sends Bastion's bullets back at him and kills him faster than he can stop shooting.

Yeah, definitely worth reinstalling, if it's happening in the tutorial then something is definitely up.
